8 Step Oriental & Area Rug Cleaning Process

Step 1:

Pre-Inspection and Pick Up

We will determine as much as we possibly can about the type of rug and inherent qualities that may affect cleaning. We will outline the expected results and cleaning “prescription”. Our company will come to your home to pick up your rug, or you may drop it by our shop.

Step 2:

Dry Soil Removal

We use a variety of techniques to ‘dust’ the rugs from the front and back. We also use a pile lifter, and special vacuum attachments to remove dry soil from your rug.

Step 3:

Pre-Condition

Depending on fiber content and soiling type, the rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils.

Step 4:

Pre-Spot and Fringe Preparation

Any potentially difficult spots will be pre-treated with special solutions to increase chances of removal. The fringe is also pre-treated for maximum soil removal.

Step 5:

Wash

Soil is effectively removed by the gentle, turbulent flow of the wash water without the use of brushes or other mechanical forces that could damage rug fibers. Our rug washing solutions not only provide a thorough cleaning, but they ensure that cross contamination and dye transfer is impossible during the washing process.

Step 6:

Rinse

Our goal is to remove over 90% of moisture from rugs in 3 hours or less and to process heavy and dense textiles quickly and efficiently. Additionally, we have techniques for removing urine and other contaminants from rugs. Using a combination of water irrigation and effective chemistry, contaminants are flushed out of rugs better than any other method!

Step 7:

Dry and Finish

The rug is hung for final drying in a controlled environment. When the rug is dry, it is combed and finished with soft groomers made for specialty rugs.

Step 8:

Post Inspection and Delivery

Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for pick up or delivery. Your rug will be wrapped in brown craft paper to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is picked up or delivered. Upon delivery, we will lay the rug for you.

Stone is mechanically finished to produce a high gloss shine. Very light etches, scuffs and scratches may be removed with the polishing process, but diamond grinding is needed if the stone surface has medium deep etches, scuffs and scratches.
